Adidas launches running event

PARTICIPANTS from Metro Manila joined “Run Hard, Play Hard” as Adidas launched the first leg of their global running event in the Philippines entitled “Adidas Runners Manila” last Aug. 16 in Bonifacio Global City.

Starting off at the Adidas store in Two Parkade, the run haD three pit stops approximately three kilometers apart. In every pit stop, a participant must do different exercises such as jumping jacks and crunches that are guided by lead runners and  coaches specializing in strengthening, conditioning, running and nutrition.

Jules Aquino, who works as a model and an athlete in different sports; Maureen Schrijvers, who won medals in race and high jump competition and coach Ani de Leon-Brown, who is known as the “Iron Lady” for competing in the Ironman World Championship also pareticipated.

“With Adidas Runners Manila, we’re building a community that’s united by our love for running. As captains, we’re here to push our runners to get better each week and have fun doing it,” coach Ani said.

Adidas Runners Manila will hold a running event every week where everyone is welcome to join. Schedule of activities will be posted at the team’s public Facebook group, where events in other countries are also posted.

Rewards are given to participants in the Runners’ weekly activities where there are four levels to be aimed.

The event had almost 130 participants from different running clubs which includes the Ayala Triad, Team Titans Manila, Urban Runners Club, Snail Runners Alabang and Team Laban. 

It is Adidas’ first time to form the Runners group in the Philippines after the establishment of teams in the cities around the world such as Berlin, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Paris and Milan.

Adidas is a multinational corporation based in Germany and is one of the best manufacturers of sportswear ranging from suits to shoes and equipment. Reaching over 160 countries, the brand has been recognized by many famous athletes and has sponsored major sports events such as the FIFA World Cup.
