A popular fashion magazine has launched a movement that celebrates and recognizes leaders and game changers of this generation. Called #TheNewPH, this social media campaign that promotes “a new and better Philippines” named Maine Mendoza, Gabbi Garcia, Anne Curtis, and Nadine Lustre as the most influential personalities.

The campaign was unveiled to coincide with the celebration of the country’s 119th Independence Day and culminated in a grand Pinoy Pride Ball attended by both emerging and established showbiz personalities from the country’s leading networks.

Among the Kapuso stars who took part in #TheNewPH Grand Ball were Alden Richards, Meant to Be leading men Ken Chan, Addy Raj, Jak Roberto, and Ivan Dorschner, showbiz newcomer Gil Cuerva, and stars Andrea Torres, Ruru Madrid, Sanya Lopez, Klea Pineda, Ameera Johara, Rita Daniela, Sofia Pablo, and Ayeesha Cervantes.

Prior to the event held on June 12, these celebrities were photographed with yellow, blue and red backgrounds which symbolized hope, courage, and love, respectively.

“In these times when fear and uncertainty have seemingly taken over, as a united nation, we remain steadfast and unfazed in the midst of challenges. We believe what we need as one nation now is hope, courage, and love, as we celebrate our country’s independence. Let us march forward towards the future, in the hopes of building a better nation. This is our stand and our pledge for humanity,” reads the common caption for each of the photos that appeared on MEGA magazine’s official Instagram page.

According to the fashion magazine’s website, the Pinoy Pride Ball is a yearly, prestigious invite-only event hosted by MEGA magazine in order to honor Filipinos who are excelling in different fields. All the guests are required to attend in their best version of the modern Filipina look, with all the possible reiterations of the classic ensemble.

Every year, the MEGA ball’s theme is interlaced with the Pinoy Pride. Although this 2017, the MEGA team decided to make the event more different by changing the list of invites–they focused more on tapping the most relevant millennials.
