Her listeners have not heard her voice on radio, DZMM, particularly, from which she resigned on Dec. 2 last year to join DZRJ 810 AM which she now heads as president of 8 TriMedia Pro, Inc., the company that operates the station.
It has been three months since Kaye Dacer last sat on board a radio booth, and as she spoke to some members of the press recently at the receiving area of the radio station she heads, her eagerness to be on the air again was most evident in the tone of her radio-friendly voice and in the facial expression each time she would emphasize a point why she isn’t on the air yet.
There’s a one-year embargo for talents and employees of ABS-CBN to appear or be heard on a competing entity. She affirmed that when she was asked why. Yet, she said she wanted to meet with the management of ABS-CBN radio and seek elucidation on the ban.
Meanwhile, she contents herself with sitting as guest on the station’s programs. During the time we met her, showbiz writers and hosts of an afternoon showbiz-oriented show Mildred Bacud and Rommel Placente put her on the air as she answered questions from members of the media (including this author).
The Action Lady of Philippine Broadcasting Kaye Dacer said that she has put up Akyson Lady Center for her listeners on the other station looking where they can connect with her. The center is open daily, morning to evening, and allows her listeners to meet Kaye in person.
“In the meantime that I can’t be back on board full time (as she awaits decision from the management of the station she had left behind), the center is where my listeners and I can get personal,” she said.
Dacer has been serving the society’s underprivileged sector for almost 20 years now. As the voice of the less fortunate, she fought courageously to help them get the justice they deserve.
As president of the radio station, her role is not only to be anchor of a program. “I am also responsible for what the listeners hear on the air, who anchors the shows and where the shows would take them.
Metro Manila KBP Chairman and industry pillar Rey Langit is one DZRJ’s top anchors. Also in the radio network are radio journalists Angelo Almonte (also from ABS CBN DZMM, Gani Oro (from GMA’s DZBB and CNN Philippines), Neil Ocampo (another one from ABS CBN DZMM and DZRH), industry pioneer Joey Falcon and senior anchors Percy Lapid, Miguel Gil, and Jimmy Morato.
The station has also signed showbiz personalities Shalala and Aster Amoyo and some of the members of the Philippine Movie Press Club, like Rodel Fernando, Mildred Bacud and Rommel Placente, along with public service advocates Pia Morato, Bernard Tan, Hannah Seneres, Gemma Gumamela, Ryan George, and Sir Tsip General Sammy Pagdilao.
Rey Salinel, Edwin Bien, Cecil Catapang, Sonny Villoria, Charlie Mendez. and John Reyes also joined 8 TriMedia .
Recently, actress Vivian Velez also sits on board with her show Double V.
With Dacer at the helm, the team of 8 TriMedia promises that public service will surely be no. 1. Currently, DZRJ 810 AM is the fastest growing AM radio. It now has a parallel broadcast on cable TV.
So, will AksonLady’s listeners still miss her?
“Not for long on the air,” Kaye Dacer said.
Rochelle Pangilinan is grateful to her haters. Meanwhile, Ruru Madrid and Glaiza de Castro want to hurt Neil Ryan Sese.
And that’s only because both Sese and Pangilinan who play Asval and Andora in the telefantasya Encantadia are responsible for the demise of Lira (Mikee Quintos) and Mira (Kate Valdez), the former as the daughter of Ybrahim (Madrid) and the latter Pirena’s (De Castro) daughter.
Pangilinan has been deluged with hate comments on the social media networks. Instead of being affected, she simply said, “Avisala Eshma sa lahat ng nanunuod ng Encantadia. Alam kong kayo ay nagagalit ngunit...maraming salamat.”
Meanwhile, Sese said he felt threatened when he sat near Madrid and De Castro. He posted his feelings on his Instagram account who said it was an awkward moment and added, “Time to move on.”
“Paano nga kaya kami makaka-move on sa pagkamatay ng dalawa sa mga mahagalang karakter sa Encantadia?”
Well, it’s hard to accept death, really!
