SEAG venues world class

THE venues of the 29th Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur are accessible and world class.

Philippine delegation chef de mission Cynthia Carreon said this as she briefed heads of various national sports associations on the facilities that will be used in the coming biennial meet this August.

“They’re amazing, beautiful, world class,” said Carreon.

Two weeks ago, Carreon and a delegation of Philippine sports officials were given an ocular inspection of the facilities that will be used for the Games.

They visited and had a closer look of the venues at the Games’ three main clusters.

She was accompanied by deputy chef de mission Robert Bachman of squash when they inspected the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITIEC), Kuala Lumpur Sport City, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Putrajaya Watersports Complex and the National Velodrome and BMX Track in Nilai.        

Organizers from host Malaysia have promising athletes, officials and participating countries a smooth and competitive Games.

The Games will open on  Aug. 19 and the  Malaysian Organising Committee (MASOC) Kuala Lumpur 2017 told them that  preparation for the Games, are on track.

The SEA Games task force with various heads of NSAs yesterday afternoon and discussed not only the venues, but also the list of equipment and various that have been procured through the Philippine Sports Commission.

The Games will see the participation of more than 7,000 athletes from the SEA region.
