Naughty or Nice

A quick Google search or scan along bazaars reveals a host of crystal accessories claiming to be Swarovski—or at least their shoddy tags claim so.

Swarovski’s holiday 2019 collection features sparkling pieces that celebrate the many facets of today’s woman—may it be naughty or nice.

To avoid becoming a victim of imitation, Manila Standard asked Jam Tan, Stores Specialist Inc. associate merchandise manager, how to spot a fake Swarovski jewelry. And we discovered it’s all about the swan.

“All Swarovski merchandise will always have the Swan symbol in them or the Swan Swarovski label. For example, the clasps of the necklaces have the Swarovski Swan,” explained Tan, adding, “Even our figurines and home accessories will always have the branding.”

When it comes to the crystals, experts say a real Swarovski has no bubbles and has a uniform surface luster; no scratches, no swirl marks.

Swarovski jewelry and accessories are a favorite of women in their late 20s to early 30s, according to Tan. Hence for the brand’s holiday collection, they launched a campaign that celebrates the “many facets of today’s modern woman,” may it be naughty or nice.

Leila Alcasid keeps it Nice and simple.

“This season, we want to celebrate in style with sparkling silhouettes that will dial up the glamour of the holidays and create brilliant moments for all,” enthused Swarovski creative director Nathalie Colin.

Divided into two categories, Naughty and Nice, the holiday season collection highlights colors, crystals, and styles.

On the Nice side are collections distinguished by their clean, simple, and classic designs. Those categorized as Naughty are “more playful, more adventurous.”

Nice features mostly silver, and white and green crystals; while Naughty highlights gold and rose gold, and red and dark-colored crystals.

The Naughty or Nice collection features a black and a white angel feather, which the brand said a symbol of protection, affection, and harmony.

Feather designs and tarot motifs shine in the on-trend Swarovski Remix Collection. Palace, meanwhile, features vintage-style floral motifs in sapphire and emerald crystal colors.

North features constellations shining through a refined mix of slender lines and Swarovski crystal clusters, “designed to echo shimmering glaciers.”

Louison comes in two styles—bracelet and earrings—in dramatic red Swarovski crystal. When paired together, they make a wonderful gift set for anyone who’s been a little bit naughty.

The timeless pearl gets a modern update with an injection of striking green tones and sparkling embellishment in Perfection. While Magic keeps its simple with an endearing and playful angel motif.

The highlight watch for the holiday season is the Crystal Rose. Each timepiece comes with a bezel adorned with 215 Swarovski crystals. It is the first time the brand features its signature micro-pavé technique on watches.

The Swarovski Naughty or Nice Collection is now available at Swarovski boutiques and on swarovski.com.
