Uniqlo’s Heattech line does its job as insulating basics quite well, but the Japanese fashion retailer has managed to give it a little aesthetic update with the help of a renowned American designer.

Earlier this month, Uniqlo Philippines has launched the fashion giant’s latest on-brand designer collaboration with Alexander Wang, featuring a total of 16 Heattech and Heattech Extra Warm innerwear for men (six) and women (10).

The collection features the original functionality of Heattech technology, which keeps wearers warm during cold weather, but with updated silhouettes that are sharp and slim, allowing pieces to be worn as inner layers or stylishly on their own.

While the pieces retain their basic, understated look, ideal for mixing and matching with a wide range of clothing, they have an urban uniform appeal with neo-futuristic elements and sporty stylings, such as glossy ribbed materials and high-cut leg openings reminiscent of ‘80s fashion.

WHO SAYS IT’S COLD. Uniqlo and Alexander Wang collaboration is a 16-piece collection of Heattech and Heattech Extra Warm items which feature the same functionality of the line and Wang’s distinct urban uniform style.

For instance, the women’s tank top features a unique back design and can be styled with other pieces from the collection.

In addition, the collaboration line is available in colors popular with Wang’s designs, from black to beige to gray to neon green.

The visual presentation of the comfortable bias weave fabric is another characteristic of this collection. The fabric itself uniquely changes with body movement, with V-shaped patterns appearing on the surface.

According to Uniqlo Philippines officials, Wang personally chose to work on the Heattech line, injecting his style to the versatile pieces.

Styles included in the cold season-appropriate collection are, for men: Heattech Ribbed Crew Neck T, Heattech Ribbed Tank Top, Heattech Ribbed Boxer Briefs, Heattech Ribbed Briefs, Heattech Extra Warm Crew Neck T, and Heattech Extra Warm Tights; for women: Heattech Crew Neck T, Heattech Ribbed Crew Neck T, Heattech Ribbed Leggings, Heattech Bra, Heattech Shorts, Heattech Ribbed Sleeveless Top, Heattech Ribbed Sleeveless Body Suit, Heattech Extra Warm Sleeveless Top, Heattech Extra Warm Leggings, and Heattech Extra Warm Body Suit.
