Contemporary Japanese clothing line Uniqlo partners with young UK-born fashion blogger/designer Hana Tajima, of Japanese and British descent who turned Muslim and has been a role model for young women especially modern Muslim women around the world.

Tajima’s designs push the boundaries of traditional Muslim clothing, making them stylish and sought after in today’s modern times. Inspired by her Japanese roots and English upbringing, her modern, functional designs, which are both culturally sensitive and extremely comfortable, continue to garner international attention. As part of the 2016 Spring/Summer Collection, Tajima’s new line is tailored to complement Uniqlo’s LifeWear concept – making fashionable, high quality products to enhance everyone’s lifestyle.

The designs feature new styles for Uniqlo and explore vibrant prints and an innovative cut that includes items like hijab headscarves, jeans, rayon blouses, and long dresses. It also features AIRism hijab inner wear headscarves and headbands, and versatile baju kurung that can be used as a tunic paired with trousers or as a dress – something fresh in Uniqlo shelves.

“We are particularly excited about the update to our AIRism Inner Hijab and High Neck that ensures coverage without compromising comfort in tropical countries,” says Hana Tajima. Her collection already launched in other Asian countries like Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, and has been patronized by young and modern Indonesian Muslim women. Though they might be thought of as a Muslim wear, Uniqlo explains that Tajima’s design aesthetics is in line with Uniqlo’s philosophy and its LifeWear concept. “Our collaboration with Hana will introduce essential pieces that reflect her style combined with our LifeWear concept. Every item from this collection is designed with quality, comfort and style in mind,” says Katsumi Kubota, Uniqlo Philippines COO.

The Uniqlo x Hana Tajima Collection is already available at Uniqlo Large Store – SM Mall of Asia, SM Aura, SM Megamall, and SM North Edsa.
