This corner features pets of animal lovers every week. We hope new owners and those thinking of getting a pet will be encouraged to be responsible “furparents” through these features. We also hope more people will be moved to be kind to animals when they read about the great relationship that can be created between humans and animals.

Gabee is a rescued female asong PInoy (aspin) who  brought many wonderful surprises to her rescuer-furmon Ma. Malaya “Bet” Enano in the past two months since her rescue.

“Hi, meet Gabee. I rescued her last May 8. Her laboratory tests on May 14 showed she is negative of any illness except for heartworm.  The pregnancy test showed she is also not pregnant, “ recalls Bet.

Bet says, “We gave her meds, healthy food,  and vitamins which were very expensive—and  lots of TLC  (tender loving care) of course—just to make her healthy.”

Gabee underwent treatment for heartworm.

Last June 15 however, Bet says they were “surprised when Gabee gave birth to a healthy female puppy!”

“What happened to the pregnancy test worth P1k plus? Well, kung napalpak sa heartworm test before, it doesn't matter anymore as long as she is healthy and the baby is healthy too,“ Bet says.

Last July 11, there was another good news. Bet shares Gabee was declared free of heartworm after two months of taking meds.

Gabee was given the 5-in-1 vaccination and will soon join  Bet’s other furbabies.

Bet has eight (8) dogs, six of whom were adopted, and one (Gabee) was rescued and gave her a puppy.

Bet also has 43 cats in their Pampanga home, the oldest is 16 years old. Most of the cats were rescued.

Kofi carries the last name of her furparent. She is thus called KOFI XIANGHUA TAN. That is how well loved she is by her furparent Rackel Tan and the rest of the family.

“She’s Kofi Xianghua Tan. She may be seen as a pup, but me, my family and the rest of our friends see and treat her as a young child. A princess, “ Rackel says.

“She enjoys the attention of my mother and Kofi often scolds mama whenever she won’t bring her to the mall or even in the bathroom, “ Rackel adds.

“She’s the love of our lives, “ Rackel says.
