The Animal Kingdom Foundation’s annual fundraising event participated by dog owners and their pets goes to Central Luzon State University in Nueva Ecija.
Now on its fourth year, this year’s RunFurLife event is franchised by AKF to CLSU hoping to start a festival of fun for “hoomans” and their furry-friends in every school and campus nationwide.
The first three (3) successful years of RunFurLife were held in Quezon City with an average turnout of a thousand runners, hoomans and dogs, providing AKF the motivation to stage it yearly since 2016.
The main recipients of this event are the once slaughter-bound dogs that AKF rescued from the dog meat trade.
There are at least 170 dogs undergoing rehabilitation at the AKF’s sanctuary in Capas, Tarlac.
AKF rescued fifty dogs from being slaughtered this year through a series of operations: once in January and twice in February in Batangas and Nueva Ecija, respectively.
All these dogs were being transported, together with a number of carcasses, to the main market in the North. All nine arrested traders were brought to court and have pleaded guilty.
The RunFurLife4-Campus Edition will be on March 17 at CLSU campus and the participants can gather as early as 3:30 a.m. inside the university and participate in a zumba aerobics until gunstart at 6:30 a.m. The program will end with the awarding of winners until 9 a.m.
