My Furry Bestie

This corner features pets of animal lovers every week. We hope new owners and those thinking of getting a pet will be encouraged to be responsible “furparents” through these features. We also hope more people will be moved to be kind to animals when they read about the great relationship that can be created between humans and animals.

LEE was only about two months old when Leilani C. Aguinaldo saw her outside their house on June 30, 2018, afraid and trying to seek cover from the rain.

“My 10-month-old furbaby is so special to me. She went through so much hardship but survived. She shows us her gratefulness for saving her by always showing us she loves us. And we love her so much,“ Leilani says.

When they saw Lee, Leilani says she was full of wounds and was so emaciated.

“I gave her food but she was growling and afraid. It was evident she was hurt by someone as she had difficulty walking, and at night,  and she would cry like there was something painful in her body,” Leilani says.

“There were many people in our place who were angry at her. They threw things at her, poured hot water on her, dragged her, and wanted her to leave our place. It was raining very hard that day when I saw her trying to find some refuge and to keep herself dry in between the plants. Because I pitied her–  although I already had 28 cats and 3 dogs then—I decided to get her, “ adds Leilani.

Leilani shares: “It was not easy to handle her as she would growl. She was very afraid. When I’d give food to her, I would tell her not to be afraid, assuring her that I will not hurt her.”

“The next days, her tail started to wag whenever she would see me. Slowly, she started to trust humans again. Today, she is such a sweet dog, “ Leilani says.

“Grabe ang pinapakita niyang pagmamahal sa amin. Pag dumarating kami, niyayakap niya agad kami at hinahalikan. She is just like a baby. I always assure her that she will no longer go hungry, that I will not allow anyone to hurt her anymore, “ Leilani says.

“That is why LEELEE SNOW is so special to our family. This furbaby went through so much but survived and grew up to be a beautiful, loving, sweet dog, Leilani says.

BASTIE, a four-year-old cute mixed breed, was adopted by Eugene Rodriguez and his family last February, 2015.
