World-renowned Moscow Ballet “La Classique” and Bolshoi ballet stars Alexander Volchkov and Nina Kaptsova are taking the stage of the New Frontier Theater in Araneta Center today until June 22 for “Swan Lake.”
Choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, the Moscow Ballet company’s production of Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” is accompanied by the Russian Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of conductor Yaroslav Tkalenko.
Founded in 1990 by its current director, Erik Melikov, Moscow Ballet “La Classique” has thrilled ballet lovers during hugely successful tours of Egypt, Morocco, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Norway, Israel, Thailand, Taiwan, China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.
It is composed of dancers from leading theaters in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Perm, Saratov, and other cities in Russia and the CIS countries.
The company repertoire includes “Swan Lake,” “The Nutcracker,” “The Sleeping Beauty,” “La Bayadere,” “Romeo and Juliette,” “Giselle,” and “Don Quixote,” among many other productions.
Volchkov and Kaptsova are principal dancers of the Bolshoi Ballet Company.
