Filipino art-rock band wins at Independent Music Awards 2018

Filipino experimental art-rock band Jack of None bags two awards in this year’s Independent Music Awards held on March 31 at The Lincoln Center for Performing Arts in New York City. 

The group, composed of siblings A.G., Maxine, and Julian Syjuco took home the Best Eclectic EP of the Year for their EP/album entitled The Tattle Tale Heart, and the Best Eclectic Producer of the Year for A.G.’s work on the band’s second solo album, Who Shot Bukowski?.

Jack of None was also nominated in Best Spoken Word Album of the Year, Best Spoken Word Song of the Year, Best Eclectic Album of the Year, Best Eclectic Song of the Year, Best Album Art, Photography and Design, and Best Lyric Video of the Year. 

The competition’s panel of judges was composed of esteemed musicians and artists from around the world, including Tom Waits, Tori Amos, Sepultura, Slayer, Ben Lee, The Kills, Sublime, Macy Gray, Passenger, and more.

Jack of None is Manila’s foremost experimental art-rock band, critically-acclaimed for their unique fusion of poetry and spoken word with industrial electronic rock music. They are described as “a bold and courageous band composed of musicians and poets… Dark, thought-provoking, and most significantly, this band transcends music into the realm of pure art.”
