The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency has recognized another barangay in Navotas that has been cleared from illegal drugs.

Mayor Toby Tiangco, together with members of the city council, handed the PDEA certificate to barangay chairperson Marilou Gonzales and other officials of Barangay Bagumbayan North.

“The fight against illegal drugs is long and arduous, yet we forge ahead knowing that every success we achieve”•however small it may be”•redounds to the welfare and benefit of our people,” Tiangco said.

BBN is the 9th village in Navotas declared drug-cleared. Other barangays include North Bay Boulevard South (NBBS) Dagat-dagatan, NBBS Proper and NBBS Kaunlaran, Navotas East and Navotas West, Tanza I and Tanza II, and San Rafael Village.

The certificate stated that BBN has been drug-cleared as of Oct. 22, 2019 after thorough assessment and validation on their compliance with Section 8 of Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 3, series of 2017.

For a barangay to be drug-cleared, drug personalities under its unified watchlist should have been given appropriate intervention, it has a drug-free workplace, barangay officials are actively advocating for anti-drug campaign, among others.

Tiangco reminded Navoteños that being drug-cleared does not mean a barangay is totally rid of the drug menace.

“There are people who prey on others, especially the youth and the poor, and take advantage of their innocence or dire circumstances. We need to be vigilant of them. Report any suspicious individuals or activities and let’s help keep our people safe,” he said.

Navotas has a Text JRT (JohnRey oR Toby) facility that receives feedbacks, complaints or reports from residents. Messages may be sent to Text JRT numbers 0915-2601385 for Globe, 0908-8868578 for Smart, and 0922-8888578 for Sun.
