Starting next year, senior citizens in Navotas will celebrate their birthday with a little present from the city government. Mayor Toby Tiangco on Monday signed City Ordinance 2019-15, granting the ₱500 “NavoRegalo Para sa mga Lola at Lolo” on their birthday.
“This is our way of thanking and showing our appreciation to our senior citizens for all that they have done for Navotas. We hope the cash gift would make their birthday celebration extra joyful or would help them with their medication needs,” he said.
To qualify for the program, an applicant must be a registered voter of Navotas and must have a senior citizen’s ID issued by the City Social Welfare and Development Office on or before July 31, 2019.
They or their representatives must also file the application before the date of birth of the concerned senior citizen.
Navotas has 20,000 registered senior citizens. In 2014, it passed an ordinance granting P10,000 cash gift to residents aged 100 years or more.
