The Quezon City Police has ordered a probe of an explosion near a Korean restaurant shortly after midnight Thursday.

QC Police Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel Jr. said investigators are now gathering information into the motive behind the explosion.

He encouraged the public to report any information regarding the incident by using the Philippine National Police hotlines — Isumbong Mo Kay Oca (09178475757); Isend Mo Sa Team NCRPO (09158888181 or 09999018181) and QCPD DD’S Tipline (09178611870).

Operatives of Police Station 10 in Kamuning received a telephone call from a concerned citizen on an alleged hand grenade explosion at about 12:40 a.m. Thursday in front of the Korean restaurant along Scout Tuazon Street corner Timog Avenue in Barangay South Triangle.

Police immediately responded and relayed the information to Explosive Ordnance Disposal and K-9 teams. Investigators recovered one safety lever, one striker spring, and fragments from the body of a MK-2 fragmentation hand grenade. No one was reported hurt.
