Quezon City rounds up 1,633 violators of ordinances over 24 hours

At least 1,633 violators of laws and city ordinances have been rounded up in Quezon City, city police head Chief Supt. Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. reported Monday.

In reports sent to Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar D. Albayalde and National Capital Region police commander Director Guillermo Eleazar, Esquivel said those arrested were rounded up from 5 a.m. on Dec. 2 to 3 a.m. on Monday.

He said Station 1, which has jurisdiction over La Loma Police Station and is led by Supt. Robert Sales accosted six persons for jaywalking and 220 for various traffic violations.

The Masambong Police Station under Supt. Rodrigo Soriano rounded up six for drinking in public places, 28 for smoking in public places, two for creating excessive noise, and 180 for jaywalking.

The Talipapa Police Station commanded by Supt. Alex Alberto arrested 143 for traffic violations and rescued 35 minors caught violating the curfew imposed on juveniles in the area.

Supt. Rossel Cejas, Novaliches police commander, reported the arrest of nine for drinking liquor in public places, 11 for smoking in prohibited areas, 27 for creating excessive noise, 70 for jaywalking and 149 for other traffic violations.

The Fairview Police Station led by Supt. Benjamin Gabriel Jr. rounded up two for creating excessive noise and 40 for different traffic violations.

The Batasan Police Station under Supt. Joel Villanueva accosted 25 for jaywalking.

The Cubao Police Station led by Supt. Giovanni Hycenth Caliao arrested one for drinking liquor in a public place and 101 for smoking in prohibited areas.

Esquivel said those accosted were either issued Ordinance Violation Receipts (OVR) or rendered community service.

He called on the public to obey laws and city ordinances at all times to avoid being penalized.
