QUEZON City Mayor Herbert “Bistek” Bautista will receive the Gawad Pangulo for Excellence in Public Service Award from the University of the Philippines’ Manila National Telehealth Center for his all-out support to the development and implementation of the real-time community health information tracking system (rCHITS) project.

Bautista recently signed City Ordinance No. 2070-2011, mandating the computerization of all health centers “to serve as an indispensable tool” in providing emergency health-care services to all clients and supported community health information tracking system installations in health centers.

The rCHITS is an electronic medical record system that improves health information systems of health facilities to upgrade their maternal and child health services.

It is designed with built-in modules for patient consultation, scheduling, maternal and child care services, family planning, morbidity, modifiable diseases and other features for the Department of Health’s field health service information system.

The rCHITS project is among the six recipients of the UP Gawad Pangulo for Excellence in Public Service Awards. It is implemented in 62 health centers, seven lying-in clinics and three social hygiene clinics across Quezon City.

The city government has allocated P8.5 million for the rCHITS project. Over 600 city health and information technology personnel will undergo training for the rCHITS in barangay health centers.
