CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga—Three regional police offices are teaming up to put a stop to motorcycle-riding suspects across their areas.

In a joint tactical and strategic meeting here, regional police directors Chief Supt. Camilo Pancratius Cascolan of the National Capital Region, Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar of Region 4-A or Calabarzon, and Chief Supt. Amador Corpus of Region 3 or Central Luzon set their sights eliminating crimes usually perpetrated by two men riding on motorcycles.

Under their plan, the three police regions will issue unified stickers and color coding system for motorcycles in a bit to rid their areas of “MRS,” Corpus said.

Considering the proximity of the regions to each other and the prevalence of motorcycle-riding suspects, there is a need for a coordinated effort to stop them in the three regions, he added.

“Because of the high speed and maneuverability of a motorcycle, it is the favorite vehicle of suspects in the commission of crimes that can easily elude pursuing police operatives,” Corpus said.

“It is high time to stop this notorious crime modus operandi of the riding-in-tandem suspects,” he added

At present, Police Regional Office 3 is now implementing “Oplan Clean Riders Alpha” and PRO 4A has “Oplan Checkmate” both aimed at ridding their regions of suspects on bikes.

A total of 228 crimes were committed by riding-in-tandem suspects in Central Luzon, but 42 cases were already solved, Corpus added.

Meanwhile, an incumbent barangay captain was arrested by police authorities for violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act in Tarlac City on Sunday.

Arrested was Edison Diaz, 41, married, and the incumbent chairman of Barangay Lourdes, Tarlac City.

Diaz was arrested based on a warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 64 for violation of Republic Act 9165. Diaz is now under the custody of Tarlac City Police.

The days of the motorcycles riding in tandem suspects are now numbered.

This developed as three regional commanders of the Philippines National Police including the National Capital Regional Police Officer put their heads together to find a solution to Motorcycle Riding Suspects in the country.

Police Chief Supt. Amador Corpus of PRO 3 said that because of the high speed of the motorcycle, it is the favorite vehicle of suspects in the commission of crimes that can easily elude pursuing police operatives, Corpus said.
