The Philippine flag is raised by members of the Philippine National Police as Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo joins local officials of Bulacan led by Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado and Malolos City Mayor Christian D. Natividad in the 121st Independence Day ceremony in front of the historic Barasoain Church in Malolos on Wednesday.
Elsewhere, the facade of SM City Marikina is lit up in the colors of the flag—a radiant blue, yellow, and red (top right photo)—while in nearby SM City San Mateo, mall manager Lorna Alfonso-Paderon joins Rizal provincial board members Omie Rivera, Ato Rivera, mall employees and student scouts from FEU-Roosevelt College while all dressed in Filipiniana as they joined the country’s freedom day celebration.
