Professional consultancy firm P&A Grant Thornton expects the growth of voice-activated services in the Philippines, as businesses and households begin to adopt the technology as a new platform of digital marketing.

“It will come in time. The Philippines is surrounded by innovative thinking countries like South Korea which has the fastest internet speed. It’s just a matter of time before the Philippines will adopt voice a futuristic technology which is now just coming out from the US,” said Grant Thornton International Ltd. associate director for digital Matt Cooksley.

P&A Grant Thornton, the Philippine unit, launched Thursday the 6th edition of the Growth Series with focus on emerging trends in digital sales and marketing and how best to adopt these technologies in the Philippine set-up.

Cooksley said that in the US, it took only two years for the American households to gain access and use voice-activated devices or “voice first assistants”,

About 47 million Americans are now using voice first assistants. The second wave of expansion is seen to spread out of the US to other internet-savvy countries.
