Hyundai Asia Resources Inc., the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the Philippines, sold 19,790 units in the first seven months of 2019, up 1.6 percent from 19,478 units year-on-year.

“This year has been challenging for the automotive industry but Hyundai’s modest growth reflects its resilience and strong brand anchored on reliable and comfortable vehicles, superior customer service, and continuing programs to ensure worry-free ownership,” said HARI president and chief exeuctive Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo.

The company said it would continue the upward trend until the end of the year with key programs in the pipeline.

Sales of the passenger car segment declined 15 percent to 10,566 units from 12,487 units on year, but those of light commercial and commercial vehicles rose 28 and 140 percent, respectively.

The market, however, remains strong for compact sedans, with sales of the Reina and the Accent accounting for over half.
