Developers pushing mass housing perks

A group of developers will continue to lobby for the inclusion of mass housing in the Strategic Investment Priorities Plan under the Trabaho bill to keep homes affordable and within reach of the lower to the middle segments of Filipino households.

The Subdivision and Housing Developers Association said it would continue to keep low-cost housing at P3 million within Metro Manila and above P2 million to P3 million outside Metro Manila despite the rising cost of labor and higher capital expenditure.

SHDA and the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council agreed to convince the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Board of Investments to sign an agreement that will give low-cost and mass housing developers continued access to income tax holidays.

The group will also work with Credit Informations Systems to come up with a reliable, comprehensive and centralized rating facility that will lower interest rates and reduce collateral requirements for housing loans.
